  About Felicia

Professional Summary

I am a highly motivated, detailed oriented with 14 years of experience working with mental health and substance dependence disorders.  I have worked in several treatment settings including inpatient, outpatient and residential.  I am known for my proven leadership skills, including organizational supervision and compliance management, curriculum trainings and community outreach.

Professional Experience

My diverse professional carrier working within the mental health arena began 14 years ago as a Case Manager in Long Island working with homeless families to re-establish themselves in their respective communities by becoming self-sufficient.  My experiences working with families in crisis led me into a carrier as Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor working in a Methadone Maintenance Treatment Center in Queens, New York with individuals who were opiate dependent.  After several years as a working in Methadone Maintenance Treatment Center I became increasingly aware that many of my patients were undiagnosed and suffering from mental illness.  I subsequently assumed a carrier change and became a Clinical Counselor working in a continuing day treatment program with individuals who were diagnosed as Seriously and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) and Mentally Ill and Chemically Dependent (MICA).

After several years working in day treatment I chose to change carriers and to work with the same SPMI and MICA patient’s in their residential setting as a Program Director supervising a diverse treatment team of Case Managers, Nurses and Counselors while concurrently working as a Clinical Administrator and DUI/ DWI Trainer/ practicing Counselor in an Out Patient Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) licensed treatment program in Brooklyn, New York.

Today I can be found working in the same program where I started early in my carrier.  In  my current role as the Program Director working with SPMI and MICA patients for a major health care organization I still assume responsibility for the supervisor of a diverse team of nurse, counselors, activity therapists and interns.  I can be found teaching for the City of New York at one of their colleges within the CUNY system or providing educational training for organizations to assist their employees in career development.  Still most importantly, my claim to fame is my role as a Counselor of which I maintain a small private practice here in Queens, New York.
